Our Religious School
What makes a great Hebrew school? That’s an easy question to answer. A great Hebrew school has great teachers and a focus that makes sense for today’s Jews. Temple Beth El of Somerset, New Jersey passes the test with flying colors on both accounts. At our small school, our three master teachers can give our students the attention they need. Our spiritual leader, Rabbi Eli Garfinkel, is also the principal of our religious school and one of its teachers. That means your kids will actually know their rabbi and our rabbi will actually know your kids, thus allowing them to develop a meaningful relationship with their congregation. Our school focuses on the four things that kids need as modern Jews: (1) We teach our students to read Hebrew so they feel like they belong in a synagogue setting. (2) We teach our students to sing the prayers that make up a service so that they can feel confident as practicing Jews. (3) We teach our Bar/Bat Mitzvah students how to lein Torah and Haftarah so that they can become leaders in a congregational setting. (4) We also teach our Bar/Bat Mitzvah students how to be menschen, good people with strong moral character. Our students enjoy going to Hebrew school. Your children can, too! All you have to do is contact Rabbi Eli Garfinkel at rabbigarfinkel1@me.com or at 908-616-6995.
